Alex Melnyk of the Prairie Moon Café and Motel is once again setting up the summer farmers market that runs every weekend from May long until October. He called together a meeting of this year’s vendors to sign rental agreements and discuss any concerns going into the season. This year will see mostly return vendors such as Granny’s Quilts &Toys by June and Ben Wilson, Sturgeon Lake Trout by Randall Bird, Hobbs Herbs and Veggies by Paul and Liz Hobbs, and Jamberries by the Champlain sisters. Susan Fisher wasn’t in attendance but it’s been confirmed that her Wheatsong Pastry booth will return. Of course the market would not be complete without everyone’s favourite; Sofia’s Perogies by Sofia Melnyk. Two new vendors are joining the fun this year; Borealis Clothing by Aurora Star and Jenstone Pottery by Noel Jenson. Aurora has been living on a hobby farm in Nowhere for less than a year and formerly had her small clothing business set up for distribution in Swift Current. Noel has just retired from teaching high school art and pottery in Melfort. We look forward to another wonderful year of the farmer’s market.
